Siemens HiPath 1120 / 1130 / 1150 Replacement

If you’re running a HiPath 1120, 1130 or 1150, Siemens stopped issuing software updates and Unify has officially discontinued spare parts production. Existing stock is limited and refurbished boards are getting harder — and more expensive — to find.

What “end of life” actually means for you

– No firmware or security updates, ever again
– Replacement boards are refurbished stock only, with no guarantee on remaining lifespan
– If your system fails outright, you may be without phones for days while parts are sourced
– Your installer (if not us) may no longer be able to get support from Unify on your behalf

Two ways to replace it

For an office this size — typically 8 to 16 extensions — the budget option is usually the right fit. A full OpenScape upgrade is available too, for businesses where price isn’t the deciding factor.

Option A: Budget hosted VoIP (recommended for this size office)

If your setup is simple — a handful of lines, no call centre, no complex routing — a hosted VoIP PBX can do the job of your HiPath 1120/1150 for
meaningfully less, with no on-site switchboard to maintain at all. You give up some of the finer call-handling features, but for most offices
this size that trade-off is worth it.

Best if: your main goal is “make outbound and inbound calls work reliably” rather than replicating every feature the HiPath currently has.
